My experience with Elizha Corpus Consulting (ECC) was serendipitous; it might even be the most serendipitous moment of my life.
I was in a rut last year. I was barely getting by each day. I had no opportunities to spend my time on things that were meaningful. I was so uncertain about my future, and the only thing I knew then was that I needed my life to change.
One video call later, and change did come.
I was catching up with my great friend, Aimary, and I had been ranting to her how much I have been wanting to do something on the side while I was finishing my studies. I told her that I was looking into exploring Human Resources since I wanted to apply Psychology (our undergraduate course) to my current skills such as communication and research. She shouted in response, “Oh my god! You should totally take an internship with Elizha!” I found out that her former position as Learning and Development Intern was vacant since her time with ECC had allowed her to take one step closer towards her desired career path; I couldn’t be more blessed with how this simple call was able to shift my course in life and allowed numerous opportunities to enter my life in 2021.
I was so nervous to set my foot into the then-unknown “HR world”, but Elizha welcomed me with tremendous warmth. She guided me through all of my tasks and gave me the agency to work in ways that felt right to me. I was allowed to give suggestions, and my input was always regarded. I was given tasks that aligned with my current skill sets, and I was able to further hone my strengths. I was given opportunities to lead some of our projects, and I was also able to traverse new situations and experience growth opportunities. Most importantly, I was allowed to make mistakes (and mistakes did I do).
I am so proud of the work I have accomplished because of ECC. I experienced a lot of firsts, from designing an on-demand course to co-facilitating a public webinar. I was able to assist fun learning experiences as I moderated numerous workshops with clients. I was able to generate resources that promote the use of Filipino in professional settings, which is something that is close to my heart. I was able to provide opportunities for empowerment towards making a positive impact on society.
Aside from the experiences I gained, I was also able to find a mentor in Elizha. With the help of Elizha, I was able to draft my purpose and begin navigating my career. She trained me for things that go even beyond my work at ECC. She gave me lessons that will inform how I perform in the future. She strengthened my confidence and allowed me to empower my own self. I am so lucky -- and even spoiled to some extent -- that I had such a compassionate, informative, and understanding supervisor such as Elizha. I don't know how she is able to handle all of her tasks so well, but what I do know is that I will strive to be just as awesome as her in the future.
Working with ECC has definitely been one of the biggest blessings in life. Like Aimary, my experiences with ECC have allowed me to take one step closer towards my desired path. With ECC, I realized that work need not be the life-draining cliche; I was able to maximize my skills and stay challenged while having that sense of fulfillment that I yearn for in my work.
I will forever be grateful for this serendipitous and empowering opportunity.
